My fondest memory was my first international cap, which was against Holland at Hampden.
Holland was just an emerging nation at the time, Cruyff wasn’t even on the scene, but to be picked for your first Scottish international cap is a great honour. You could win another 99 caps, but your first one is the one you always remember. Of course, we got beat 3-0.
We had no idea they were going to be as good as they were, we were supposed to beat them and ended up getting a lesson from them. It’s a lesson I remember, but an occasion I’ll never forget.
