My favourite memory as a player? The very first time I played for Scotland.

It was a very proud moment, both my mum and my dad were alive at that time and they were both at the game, which was against East Germany at Hampden.

Winning the European Cup for the first time [with Liverpool] was another special moment, in 1978, again my mum and dad were both there.

As a manager, winning the first championship for Rangers in my first season. It had been a traumatic old season and we managed to win at Aberdeen. I think it was the last game of the season and I managed to get myself sent off, but it was still another very special occasion.

I have so many good memories, it’s really hard to just pick one. I think of winning the European Cup in 1984, my last game for Liverpool when we won in Rome against Roma; of scoring for Scotland at the World Cup in 1982 against the USSR as it was back then, an enormous nation and we got a 2-2 draw against them, but unfortunately had conceded too many goals against New Zealand in the game prior to that.

So many memories, football has been very kind to me.
