World Football Memories for World Alzheimer's Day

Today, Friday 21st September, is World Alzheimer’s Day and to mark the event Alzheimer Scotland’s Football Memories project is inviting fans to share their stories of past World Cups, international games or trips they have taken to support their teams around the world.
We are asking fans young and old to send in their World Football Memories and stories, of games watched or played in somewhere unusual, trips abroad to follow your team or just take in a local game, or tales of Word Cup glory (or glorious failure, more likely). You can use the Twitter hashtag #worldfootballmemory if you'd like to add a short memory there, or better still, post your story on here.

The new football season has kicked off, with its regular diet of new signings, new managers, new strips (times three, in most cases), and this year the added concept of 'newco's to get our head around. And there have been plenty of new developments at Football Memories too.

Bill's story

The group of men were sitting waiting for me. A man was coming to talk about football. They gathered round the table and quickly started examining the old photos I had brought. Names of players were enthusiastically shouted out and soon the stories about games, players, goals and incidents were told with great fondness. The recall was impressive, by any standards. All of these men had dementia.
